This portfolio is an account that I have at Canadian Shareowner. Being retired, I consume most of my income. However, being concerned about inflation's long-term erosion of purchasing power, I decided to segregate some assets into an account that would re-invest income and have systematic contributions of capital. Stocks purchased have been analyzed using the quantitative and qualitative techniques and tools in evidence at this website. Because of the quarterly contributions and the periodic contributions to take a position in a stock, I have unitized the record keeping so that it operates like a mutual fund with a NAV that can be used to measure performance.

I decided to use the CSA because it was the most cost-effective way to systematically invest in a basked of stocks. I make quarterly purchases in each security for a total commission of $36 each quarter. For the current portfolio, that works out to $3.27/trade/security or about 1/9 the cost of a discount broker.

This is an extremely boring portfolio. Very little happens - quarterly purchases and dividends and dividend re-investment. New purchases will be very infrequent and sales even more so. So if you're looking for action, you've come to the wrong place.
